Blue Impact Programme
-
The Blue Impact Programme is E1’s comprehensive framework of initiatives to promote the restoration and regeneration of marine ecosystems worldwide.
We do so by raising awareness on relevant topics through our thought leadership dialogues on race weekends, as well as by activating projects collaboratively with local stakeholders throughout the season.
-
Advocacy & Dialogue
E1 race weekends are a platform through which our fans and stakeholders can learn about the organisations, experts and innovators at the forefront of the battle to heal the marine ecosystems of our host cities. Through our Blue Impact Dialogues and Blue Impact Summits, we engage with all local stakeholders, from grassroots initiatives to the highest level of government representatives – to advance from advocacy to action.
-
Collaboration & Action
E1 collaborates with organisations across borders and across sectors to mobilise resources and audiences around key marine issues. Together, we turn awareness into action to promote the health of our waters: small-scale restoration initiatives like beach clean-ups and mangrove planting, knowledge exchanges with universities and research centers, and more.

Blue Carbon: Scaling Impact
Blue carbon ecosystems, including mangroves, seagrasses and salt marshes, are among the most carbon-dense natural systems on Earth. Per unit area, mangroves, for example, can sequester and store three to five times more carbon than most terrestrial forests, with a significant proportion locked away in waterlogged soils that can remain stable for centuries if left undisturbed. These ecosystems also deliver critical climate adaptation co-benefits: they reduce coastal erosion, attenuate wave energy during storms, improve water quality and provide nursery habitats that sustain fisheries and local livelihoods. In this way, blue carbon sits at the nexus of mitigation, adaptation, biodiversity protection and the long-term resilience of the blue economy. Restoration-led projects do not simply avoid future emissions; they actively remove atmospheric carbon while rebuilding degraded coastal systems and strengthening community stewardship. E1 scales action to measurable, tangible positive impact on marine ecosystems by contributing resources to support the growth of market-ready, large-scale restoration projects around the world.
