Puerto Banús is known as the most sustainable marina in the country for its achievements in direct conservation of endangered species alongside other environmental actions focused on ecosystem regeneration. Puerto Banús aligns with E1’s mission to drive change and make a positive impact on marine mobility. The marina is actively incorporating new measures that allow both visitors and employees alike to preserve both the marine facilities and the environment.
Prior to the race, E1 was involved in the Puerto Banús harbour cleaning initiative, which takes place twice a year.
As usual, we hosted thought leadership talks under our Blue Impact Programme co-hosted by E1 Chief Scientist Prof Carlos Duarte and E1 Sustainability Lead Anna Kebke. We were joined by Olympic champion and prominent sailor Theresa Zabell, co-founder and president of the EcoMar Foundation speaking about the importance of using sports as a driver of action for marine conservation. We also brought together local scientists and representatives, speaking about electrifying marinas globally and highlighted threats to the local coastal environment, and solutions to these.
